The Policaro Group recently announced that its foundation donated more than $1 million to the SickKids Foundation, headquartered in Toronto, Ont., bringing much-needed medical care to children in the area.
The foundation, established in 2018 to support the health and wellness of children, has a longstanding relationship with the charity. It has also supported a wide variety of causes, including local food banks, an annual Holiday Toy Drive and Heart Month campaign, and regular donations to hospitals, and other things. However, the foundation is particularly known for its long-term involvement with SickKids.
“SickKids has a very special and personal place in the hearts of the Policaro family and we are grateful for our customers, employees and communities who support our mission of building a brighter, healthier future for our children, one smile at a time,” said Aurora Policaro-Giannace, the group’s manager of corporate giving, in a statement.
The Hospital for Sick Children is corporately branded as SickKids: it is a Toronto-based paediatric research hospital and is the parent organization of the SickKids Foundation. In September 2023, the Policaro Foundation ran an annual event in support of SickKids that included a silent auction and several drive experiences. The Track Experience, as it was called, donated approximately $236,787 to the charity.
“We are incredibly proud of the Policaro Foundation and the positive impact it has on children in need of care,” said Policaro-Giannace in a statement.
