The organizer of the Quebec International Auto Show has become the sole owner of the Quebec Electric Vehicle Show.
Charles Drouin, Managing Director of the Quebec International Auto Show and Chief Executive Officer of the Mobilis Corporation, which was a co-promoter/owner of the Quebec Electric Vehicle Show, said the decision to become the sole owner made good business sense. The Quebec Electric Vehicle Show began in 2018. Almost 50% of all vehicles sold in Canada are purchased in Quebec.
“It was a good opportunity for us,” said Drouin in an interview with Canadian auto dealer. “Electrification is the transport of the future. The Quebec Electric Vehicle Show is a totally different audience (than the Quebec International Auto Show). The people who go to the Auto Show do so for the event and to see the new vehicles. The people who go to the EV show already know what they are going to buy.”
The Quebec Electric Vehicle Show, which is a three-day event and held twice in the last fiscal years, is run primarily by dealers, as opposed to the Quebec International Auto Show, which is heavily backed by manufacturers.
Drouin said an announcement will be made soon on the date for this year’s show, possibly sometime in September.
Meanwhile, Drouin is excited about the return of the Quebec International Auto Show, which runs from March 7-12. It was postponed the last two years, similar to all the Canadian auto shows, the last two years because of COVID-19.
“We are confident about that show,” said Drouin.
