Category winners of the 2023 Canadian Car of the Year and Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year will be revealed at the Montreal International Auto Show on January 19.
More than 1,700 ballots were submitted for the annual awards. Those ballots were provided over nearly an entire calendar year by journalist members of the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
“As in recent years, the 2023 program considered vehicles that are newly redesigned, refreshed, and carried over from previous model years, provided a minimum number of ballots were submitted by AJAC journalists,” said the association in a news release.
They added that journalist members tested the vehicles on “the same roads and in the same conditions experienced by Canadian drivers from coast to coast.” The association’s partners at KPMG will review the results, in preparation for the next step in the 2023 Canadian Car/Utility Vehicle of the Year awards.
The 12 category winners will be revealed in January, while the overall winners will be revealed as part of the opening ceremonies for the Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Ontario, on February 16, 2023 — a day after this year’s Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) Summit.
The Canadian Green Car and Utility Vehicle of the year awards will be announced in the spring at the Vancouver International Auto Show.
