Two dealership groups were recently named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies: British Columbia’s OpenRoad Auto Group and Ontario’s Policaro Group.
OpenRoad owns and operates 32 stores and five collision repair centres, with locations in B.C., Ontario, and Washington. This is the 11th year the group received the honour, which means the dealer group maintained its Platinum Club status of being a Best Managed Company for at least seven consecutive years.
“This award highlights the strength and talent of our entire team and motivates us to keep pushing ourselves to do more and reach even higher,” said Christian Chia, CEO of OpenRoad Auto Group, in a statement. Chia founded the company in 2000.
The Policaro Group, a family business, was also honoured as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, now for the second consecutive year. The dealer group has 11 second- and third-generation members involved, which is considered the foundation of the company’s culture.
“We’re not just a company that is bottom-line driven,” said Francesco Policaro, CEO of Policaro Group, in a statement. “We look at our own lives and the way that we want to treat each other, our own family, our friends, and our communities. These virtues (make) a good person, they also make a good company.”
The award celebrates private Canadian-owned companies with revenues of $50 million or more. These companies must demonstrate an “unwavering commitment to industry-leading performance” in four categories: strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities and innovation, and governance and financial performance.
The goal of Canada’s Best Managed Companies program is to build a community of private businesses that will ultimately create a better future.
