Calgary-based Foundation Automotive Corp. has continued its aggressive expansion into the United States acquiring four new dealerships last week in the Savannah and Humboldt-Jackson areas in Tennessee from the Jones Motor Company.
With the latest acquisition, Foundation now has a total of 35 stores, including its first Nissan dealership.
Foundation will continue to operate the stores under the Jones name. Chad Jones, former owner of the company, will continue to work with Foundation Automotive as an executive under the expansion of the used car platform for all of Foundation’s 35 dealerships.
“Nissan is a very welcome addition to our growing group. They have built such a strong and consistent brand in the USA over the last 65 years,” said Kevin Kutschinski, CEO/President of Foundation Automotive. “We’re always eager to continue to build our relationship with Buick, GMC, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. The used car platform they have built at Jones Motor Company is second-to-none, and we are fortunate to have Chad Jones on board to help expand it to all of our stores.”
Chad Jones said Foundation Automotive was a “great fit” because it is similar in its beliefs to the Jones family. “They’re all about taking care of customers and building the community, which is what we have always strived for,” said Chad Jones.
Since its formation in 2017, Foundation Automotive has aggressively targeted the U.S. for expansion, including stores in Texas, Colorado, North Dakota, and now Tennessee. Its Canadian stores are in Alberta and B.C. Its home base in the U.S. is in Houston.
Kutschinski has been quoted as saying his corporation could have as many as 40 stores by the end of 2022.
