CAA-Quebec create service for charging electric vehicles

With the installation of an initial network of public charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs)—the “Circuit Électrique” announced by Hydro-Québec—soon to begin in the province, CAA-Quebec is offering a telephone help line that will assist owners of EVs when their batteries are running low and they need a charge.

“CAA-Quebec feels it is only natural to support Hydro-Québec and its partners in the implementation of a network of public charging stations,” says Pierre Beaudoin, Senior Director, CAA-Quebec Technical Services. “Our organization has been there for motorists since the earliest days of the automobile. And when automobiles evolve, we evolve along with them.”

Under the terms of the partnership, CAA-Quebec will operate a 24/7 help line at 1 855 999-VERT (8378). Agents will be available to help all motorists, CAA-Quebec members and non-members alike, when the time comes to charge their vehicle, or to direct the caller to the nearest “Circuit Électrique” charging station.

“We’ll be there at the other end of the line, ready to help out quickly, drawing on our vast experience in roadside assistance services,” Mr. Beaudoin adds. In CAA-Quebec’s eyes, the key to electrification of Quebec’s automobile fleet is a collective effort to make Quebec a leader in the use of EVs.

Implementation of the network will be gradual, adjusting to the rate of adoption of EVs in the province. The first charging stations will be available early next year.
