Ian P. Sam Yue Chi has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation des concessionnaires d’automobiles du Québec (CCAQ). The posting is effective as of Monday, the CCAQ announced in a press release. Sam Yue Chi succeeds Robert Poëti in the position.
Sam Yue Chi has 15 years of service with the CCAQ, where he held various roles, including a role in the legal department. He later moved to the executive management team as Vice-President and CEO, alongside Robert Poëti. Together, they collaborated on several major projects such as Otogo and the CCAQ’s dealership insurance program, with a focus on improving the organization’s communication strategies and human resources consulting services.
“I would like to extend my deepest thanks to all the members of the Board of Directors for their trust. I am optimistic about the future and am convinced that we will overcome the challenges ahead thanks to the strength of our team and the genuine commitment of our members to take their practices to a high level of professionalism,” said Sam Yue Chi.
The appointment of Sam Yue Chi as the new CEO of the Corporation was expected. Indeed, the decision was made in 2018 by the Board of Directors that he would succeed Robert Poëti upon completion of his four-year term.
The outline of the new strategic plan for 2023-2025 was presented on September 29. The action plan is ambitious, but is meant to be in line with the reality dealers are facing. This is the direction the new CEO wants to pursue and this plan has been received with enthusiasm by the Board of Directors. The details of this strategic planning will be communicated in the coming weeks.
In the release the CCAQ team expressed “its warmest thanks to Robert Poëti for his exceptional contribution. Throughout his tenure as President and CEO, Robert Poëti invested a great deal of time and effort in improving our activities and bringing the Corporation to where it is today.” Robert Poëti will now act as Vice President, Public and Government Affairs.
And congratulations to Sam Yue Chi, who will undoubtedly fulfill his new mandate according to all expectations “while remaining true to himself, with ambition, boldness and dedication.”
