Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada announced that it is celebrating 20 years of manufacturing Lexus vehicles; TMMC was the first plant outside of Japan to produce this brand of vehicles, which started with a silver Lexus RX 330 on Sep. 26, 2003.
According to the company, the Lexus RX 330 drove through a banner and was presented to several dignitaries and TMMC team members at the time.
“This is a great opportunity for our team to celebrate our success over the past twenty years and look forward to what the next twenty will hold,” said Robert Ruggieri, Vice President of Manufacturing at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, in a statement.
The company produced its 10 millionth vehicle — a Lexus NX 350h — back in August 2022. They said the introduction of the NX, and the 2023 RX major model change in 2022, represents a more than $1 billion Toyota investment into TMMC’s Canadian operations.
