Feds invest nearly $5.9M in ZEV awareness projects, new online hub

The federal government plans to support awareness and education projects related to zero-emission vehicles and launch a ZEV hub thanks to a nearly $5.9 million investment in 28 organizations.

According to Natural Resources Canada, those organizations will undertake ZEV awareness/education projects to help Canadians better understand the options available to them when selecting their next vehicle. This includes electric and hydrogen vehicles, and even clean micro-mobility solutions like e-bikes.

“The Government of Canada is supporting Canadians to accelerate to a net-zero future, including by supporting the purchase, manufacturing and charging of electric vehicles,” said Julie Dabrusin, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources and to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, in a statement.

She made the announcement at the EV & Charging Expo 2023 on behalf of Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of Natural Resources.

“I am pleased to announce new (support) for local organizations across the country to raise awareness about zero-emission vehicles to help Canadians make the switch,” she added in a statement. “At the same time, the Government of Canada’s new ZEV Hub will act as a one-stop shop for information on our investments and programs across departments.”

Federal funding for the projects was provided through ZEVAI. You can check out the new ZEV hub here.
