Mark January 25, 2017 on your calendars — you are invited to the dealer party of the year!
The Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA) is throwing a party in New Orleans to celebrate the association’s 75th anniversary with its dealer members.
This special event coincides with the 100th anniversary of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA), and what better way to recognize these two significant milestones than to throw a party. And what a party it will be!
CADA has booked the House of Blues, a remarkable venue in one of the world’s best party towns. This place is pure New Orleans.
More than 300 pieces of folk art line the walls and hallways of the interior, creating an ambience unlike any other. A box welded to the bottom of each stage contains original Mississipi mud to ensure “that every artist has the roots and the spirit of the South planted beneath their feet.” If you’re looking to have an experience with a distinct New Orleans feel to it, this is it.
I had the pleasure of touring the House of Blues last year with CADA’s leadership team, as we scouted locations for this very special event. After seeing the best venues the city has to offer, the House of Blues stood out as the clear choice. It had the unique feel and flavour that CADA wanted to properly celebrate the association’s proud history.
CADA’s history began on December 5, 1941, when 40 directors attended the first board meeting, which was held at Ottawa’s Chateau Laurier.
Today, CADA’s 3,000 member dealers represent a key sector of Canada’s economy. Through its members, CADA is represented in nearly every community and those members collectively employ over 140,000 people across the country.
For seventy-five years, the association has represented and informed dealers’ interests in the face of a changing industry and the demands of automotive manufacturers and government.
I’ve had the pleasure of working as a close partner with the CADA team for more than a decade, and I’ve witnessed the incredible commitment and tremendous skills this dedicated group brings to their role of representing your interests in the face of a tremendous range of challenges.
I’ll be proud to raise a glass in the House of Blues in recognition of this historic event. I hope you’ll join me.
Look for more information over the coming months in the pages of Canadian auto dealer magazine, and from CADA itself. I will see you in New Orleans on Jan. 25, 2017!
